The founders were inspired by their time in "the trays," the open and collaborative studio space at the Harvard Graduate School of Design. TrayStudio, a creative design lab, stems from the idea of knowledge sharing through a collective commons.
We are a multidisciplinary team working across architecture, landscape, and urban design.
TrayStudio is a young and forward-thinking design firm co-founded by Mengyu Zhao, Celina Abba, and Oliver Shi. Dedicated to enhancing our built environment, TrayStudio integrates progressive design thinking into its practice of crafting unique spaces and forms, while taking on social and ecological responsibility. As a BIPOC-led design practice, TrayStudio is also deeply committed to building a healthier and more inclusive future — one project, one site, and one community at a time.
